Artiste plasticien né en 1984 à Paris, Théo Mercier place au coeur de son processus de travail la collecte d’objets, fruit de ses voyages dans le monde entier. L’artiste réunit ici minutieusement des objets hétéroclites de sa collection aux côtés de productions et de reproductions d’objets aux formats disproportionnés, pour proposer deux visions du monde à travers deux ensembles de collections qui se font face. Les objets rassemblés constituent un cabinet de curiosités tourné vers le passé comme le futur, dont Internet serait le reflet. La profondeur du monde est dans l’étagère, le diorama ou contenue dans le plat de nos écrans. Tout y est collection, et l’humanité se raconte dans ce panorama vertigineux.

Visual artist born in Paris in 1984, Théo Mercier places at the heart of his working process the collection of objects gleaned during his travels around the world. The artist carefully assembles here odd and strange objects from his collection next to productions and reproductions of objects in out-of-proportion formats to offer two visions of the world through two ensembles of collections that face each other. The objects gathered constitute a cabinet of curiosities turned towards the past as well as the future, of which the Internet is the reflection. The depth of the world is on the shelf, the diorama, or contained in the flatness of our screens. Everything in here makes a collection, and the story of human kind is narrated in that vertiginous panorama.
